A new digital course to learn about AI in 360°

THEAI Act (Artificial Intelligence Act) is a legislative proposal by the European Union to regulate the use of artificial intelligence in its member states.

It aims to ensure that AI is developed and used in an ethical, safe and fundamental rights-compliant manner.

Article 4 of the AI Act specifically deals with training

Let's summarize the main indications of art.4:

  1. User knowledge: Ensure that people involved in the use of AI systems have adequate training to understand their operation, the risks, and the measures necessary to ensure their safe and responsible use;
  2. Transparency: Provide clear and understandable information to users, including consumers and professionals, for an informed use of AI systems;
  3. Obligations for suppliers: AI vendors must provide detailed instructions and guides about the system, including how the AI system works, system limitations and potential risks, as well as best practices for use.
The importance of training

Training, as mentioned in the AI Act, becomes essential to reduce risks related to:

  • discrimination or biases in AI models;
  • accidents or improper use due to a misunderstanding of technology;
  • violations of fundamental rights, such as Privacy , data protection.

Practical impacts of the legislation

Companies, institutions and technology providers will be forced to organize themselves to:

  • design ongoing training plans for staff;
  • ensure that end users are equipped to evaluate the behavior and decisions made by AI systems.
  • comply with the transparency and documentation standards required by the AI Act.

The legislation should become effective by April 2025, but it could be brought forward.
