The fantastic realism of Dino Buzzati in a survey conducted with algorithms

Traditional and algorithmic semantic analysis of literary texts by Dino Buzzati is a new project by PCTO (academic year 2024-2025), proposed by the classical high school “G. Mameli” – IIS Salvini of Rome, in collaboration with the Institute for the Application of Calculus – IAC-CNR and Piazza Copernico.

Also this year, Professors Sara Zuzzi (mathematics) and Lucia Magno (literature) proposed an interdisciplinary path in which traditional teaching was integrated with innovative teaching, reading some of Buzzati's stories and analyzing them with the software semantic case supplied by PIAZZA COPERNICO.

THE PCTO PATH

The path was born from some reflections.
In teaching, the activation of innovative practices is essential to meet the training needs of new generations. In a moment characterized by an overwhelming transversal diffusion of artificial intelligence (AI), the integration of scientific skills with humanistic ones, as well as traditional and innovative teaching practices, takes on a role of primary importance. The issue, however, is not only the use of AI in a learning perspective, but the need to understand the logic of algorithms to govern processes and arrive at a conscious use of old and new tools.

CREATION OF A WEB PAGE

The students of 4A e 5E they conducted and presented the original analyses of some of Dino Buzzati's stories from the collection Sessanta Racconti, which emerged in a climate of active experimentation.

The boys also created a Web page high quality, describing all the work, the analysis performed and the original results obtained from the semantic analysis performed with semantic case of selected stories by Dino Buzzati.

The analysis took place in a climate of active experimentation and collaboration.
