The introduction
Despite the growing need for skilled people in information and communication technologies, women are still highly underrepresented. This is despite the European target of increasing the number of ICT professionals from 9 million in 2022 to 20 million by 2030.
Yet, although women represent around 51% of the EU population, only 1 in 5 ICT specialists is female.

Italy is even worse off: according to Eurostat data (2022), the percentage of women employed in the ICT sectors was 16%.
The hope for the future
Today we celebrate the International Day of Girls in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of April, with the aim of creating awareness on the need for more girls and women in the sector, with a simple and obvious hope:
More women accessing the same jobs as men, with fair pay and opportunities to access leadership positions in the sector.
This is not only a question of equal opportunities, equity, inclusion, but also because the spread of more diverse and balanced teams can only produce better digital solutions.
We are sure and confident of it.
