OUR PROJECT “AI VIRTUAL ASSISTANT” WINS THE OLIMPYUS “ACCESSIBLE LEARNING” AWARD

With enthusiasm Piazza Copernico has submitted its own project of “AI Virtual Assistant" in “Accessible Learning” contest organized by the Association Olympus, whose aim was to enhance the good practices implemented in the training world that have allowed the overcoming learning barriers and theinclusion thanks to the use of digital technologies or artificial intelligence.

The Virtual Assistant It is one of the solutions of Artificial intelligence on which we have been researching for some time to introduce its application in the training field.

What is a Chatbot?

With Chatbot we mean a software that can perform actions for a human interlocutor, based on commands received from the user in natural language (written or spoken).

In other words, it is a system capable of communicating and responding to a series of questions, even very specific ones. The most advanced assistants are even able to intuit the tone and context of the dialogue with the human, and then use this information in the conversation.

The purpose of the virtual tutor of Piazza Copernico

Also through important university collaborations, we have used theIA to personalize the learning experience and adapt it to individual needs, closely addressing the issue ofADHD (Attention deficit disorder) also understood as a temporary disturbance, which creates these main difficulties:

  • Concentration Problems: Difficulty maintaining attention on a single task for prolonged periods,
  • Distractibility: high susceptibility to external distractions, which interrupt the flow of learning,
  • Time Management and Organization: Difficulty planning and organizing tasks and activities,
  • Memorization: Problems with long-term retention of information and reiterating learned data.

This obviously has an impact on teaching performance:

  • Inconsistency in performance, with alternating phases of success and difficulty,
  • Problems completing assigned tasks within the given timeframes,
  • Difficulty following complex, multi-step instructions.

With the project of Intelligent Adaptive Learning It has been developed an educational approach

that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to

dynamically adjust the learning process based on interactions with the learner.

The award ceremony

The first prize in the Business category was collected on behalf of the entire work team by Martha Federici, during the event EFI IN TOUR Rome of 20 September 2024.
