  • acquire new knowledge on the risks currently present in digital sexuality and on the psychological problems that users can face;
  • stay up to date on new addictions mechanisms, which are defined as “new addictions”, such as addiction to cybersex, and on other widespread dysfunctional behaviors such as ghosting, benching, revenge porn and coercive sexting;
  • be of help to those who suffer the negative effects of the aforementioned behaviors, which people can easily incur, both through preventive interventions and through clinical practice;
  • become familiar with the new terminology used to describe digital phenomena increasingly present in everyday life and also in clinical practice, such as digital narcissism, sexting, teledildonics, digisexuality, orbiting, sex tracking and others;
  • acquire skills regarding the risks of the use of new sexual technologies in developmental age;
  • learn skills with respect to the risks of teledildonics and digisexuality, such as the ease of hacking of sexual devices and the privacy risks posed by applications that perform sex tracking;
  • acquire ways to effectively prevent the major issues and problems of digital sexuality, starting from the comparison with empirical data;
  • to know the authors who have dealt with these issues, so as to be able to autonomously investigate the topics they deal with.

CONTENTS

The course illustrates the particularities of some issues, such as the processes of disinhibition and deindividuation, digital narcissism, teledildonics, digisexuality and cybersex addiction. Dysfunctional behaviors from a sexual and relational point of view are discussed, such as ghosting, benching, revenge porn, online grooming and coercive sexting, and the reasons that led to substituting the narrative of need for that of desire.

Finally, new prevention and treatment tools are provided for the clinician who is in contact with patients who have to deal with these problems, such as the strengthening of some "life skills" and the functions of the mental health professional.
